Monical’s Nutritional Calculator

nutritionalcalculator

In response to both increased guest demand and pending legislation under the Affordable Care Act, we decided to update our on-line nutrition information to make it more user- friendly.  We searched for a provider who could give us a more comprehensive approach for accessing our nutritional information.  After reviewing a large number of nutritional information pages on restaurant websites, we concluded that a “nutrition calculator’ would be an excellent approach for us to follow.  The nutritional calculator allows guests to “build” their meals and then receive a broad range of nutritional information.  A bonus of this effort was that the nutritional calculator would also list potential allergens to assist guests with food allergies in making safe meal choices.

We selected Nutritional Information Services (NIS), a company headquartered in Washington D. C., as our nutritional information provider.  We submitted to NIS all of our recipes (including specialty recipes from our franchisees) along with portion information and product specification sheets for all of the food products we utilize in our operations.  Utilizing our information, NIS built a calculator specific to our corporate menu which will be linked to our new website.  While the calculator will be specific only to the corporate menu, each individual franchise location will have a link to a PDF, which will contain nutritional information specific to their local menu.

Healthy eating is a product of making good choices based on accurate information combined with an active lifestyle.  For most people it doesn’t mean giving up the things you enjoy, just making choices with balance and moderation in mind.  Monical’s Pizza is working to provide enjoyable food of high quality with the information our guests need to make good meal decisions.

  1. This is great, but i cannot find the actual calculator. Even when I type it in google it leads me to this page about the calculator. Where is the nutrition info itself?

    • You can find the nutritional calculator under the menu section. Some locations have the calculator while others have a pdf of the nutritional information. If you have any additional questions, please let us know.
      Thank you.

We wanted to know if any of the menu items (and which ones) contain eggs and/or peanuts/nuts or peanut oil. We are planning to have family get together and have few people with allergy issues. Thanks in advance for your reply.

    • You may find the information you are looking for under the menu section for each location. The information will be in either the nutrition calculator or the PDF of nutritional info for that location. Thank you!

  3. One serving is one pizza 200 carbs. This is very difficult to calculate for my diabetic son. Especially because your pizzas are normally cut into uneven squares not somewhat symmetrical 8 slices. Maybe you guys could simplify it down to carbs per ounce?

  4. I agree with Ben mason! Being a diabetic for more than 20 years now myself, I find it very hard to enjoy your pizza when I cannot get the nutritional info (carbohydrate ratio per serving) to calculate my insulin doseage

    • A 14″ pizza would serve 2-3 people, and a 16″ pizza would serve 3-4. You would need to calculate the whole pizza on the nutritional calculator, and divide the carbs according to how much you are planning on eating!

  5. Is your calculator even working? Why doesn’t the PDF for show all pizza sizes? It only gives the 8″ size.

    • As far as we know, the nutrition calculator is working. If you’ll let us know what location you are trying to find the nutrition on, we can look in to it. For the PDF, it lists the 8″ size because that is what is considered a serving, which is equal to 1/3rd of a 14″ pizza, or 1/4th of a 16″ pizza.

  6. You should make a pizza using healthier types of flour like quinoa, maybe mixed with regular. Cause I dearly want to order a pizza right now but can’t after looking at the nutritional chart. And all that sodium! That sucks. I’m on a diet and can’t stop at just one slice.

  7. I’ve been looking on the website and can’t seem to find an ingredient list for your pizza dough. Do you use rice flour or rice starch in your pan pizza dough? I have an allergy and it seems to be flaring up after eating at Monical’s.

    • The ingredient list for our Pan Pizza Dough is: Wheat flour, water, malted barley flour, yeast, corn oil, sugar, niacin, iron, thiamin mononitrate, riboflavin, folic acid.
Please let us know if you have any other questions!

Could I please get the ingredients in your gluten free crust? Your allergen says it contains soy.

    • Yes! Here are the ingredients of the gluten free crust:
Tapioca starch, filtered water, rice flour, organic extra virgin olive oil,
potato starch, eggs, egg whites, sugar, contains less than 2% of the
following: yeast, salt, pectin, organic defatted soy flour, soy lecitin,
xanthan gum, gum arabic, organic guar gum.

  9. What is in your dough that makes your carb count so high? Explain to me how an 8″ THIN crust pizza has 67 carbs?

    • 67 carbs is for the whole 8″ pizza, not by the slice or piece. Our nutrition has been calculated by a third party who we have supplied our recipes to.

The ingredient list for out regular thin pizza crust is as follows: Wheat flour, water, malted barley flour, yeast, niacin, iron, thiamin mononitrate, riboflavin, folic acid.

Please let us know if you have any other questions!

  10. The information you provide about your product ingredients is not sufficient for me to know if I can safely eat at Monicals. I have food allergies to celery, carrots, peas, beans…I really appreciate the establishments that are not afraid to disclose exactly what ingredients are in their food. Too bad Monicals doesn’t do this.

    • Thank you for your message. We do list, by law, these allergens: Milk, Eggs, Fish, Crustacean shellfish, Tree nuts, Peanuts, Wheat & Soybeans. Upon request, we will gladly provide a complete ingredient list for any of our products. Here are the ingredients for our Thin Crust Pizza and Garden Salad to get us started, please let us know what toppings or other products you would like ingredients for.

Our Thin Crust pizza dough is made from Flour (bleached wheat flour, malted barley flour, niacin, iron, thiamine mono-nitrate, riboflavin), Water and Active Dry Yeast.
Our Pizza Sauce is made from Vine Ripened Crushed Tomatoes, Water, Salt, Pepper and Naturally Occurring Citric Acid.
Our Cheese is a blend of 80% Low Moisture Part Skim Mozzarella and 20% Provolone Cheese (pasteurized part skim cow milk, milk, cheese cultures, enzymes and calcium chloride). Powdered cellulose is added by the manufacturer to prevent caking.

All of our vegetable toppings are 100% natural.

Our Meat toppings have varied ingredients, if you would let me know which, if any, you are considering we can provide that information.

Our Family Salad is made from Lettuce, Carrots, Tomatoes and Colby Cheese (cultured pasteurized milk, salt, enzymes, annatto)

    • According to our Nutrition Calculator, our Gluten Free crust has 69 grams of carbs, this number is calculating the crust only, and did not have any sauces or toppings included!

  11. I was wondering what the ingredients were for your breadsticks, garlic bread, and cheese sticks are. I’m allergic to corn so I would definitely appreciate any information you can give me! Thank you.

  12. Do you or can you get weight watchers smart points for the things on your menu? I would eat there again if I could figure out ahead of time what I could eat. There are a lot of restaurants that we can look up to see how many points each item is but your restaurant doesn’t come. If you have it could you send me a link? Thanks for your help.

    • We do not currently have Weight Watchers points available for our menu items. We do have nutritional information on our website and many of our locations use our nutritional calculator! With our nutritional calculator you can plug in exactly what you would like to order and it will give you the nutritional information for that. You could then take that information and plug it into a Weight Watchers point calculator!

  13. Hello I’m trying to figure out, what’s a serving size for a 14 in pizza with pepperoni?? Trying to avoid fats, and low cholesterol

    • If you are using our Nutritional Calculator, the calculations are for the entire pizza, so you would divide that by how much pizza you are planning to eat! Typically we consider 1/3 of a 14″ pizza a serving, but that probably depends on how hungry you are!

If you are are on a location that doesn’t use our Nutritional Calculator, and has the downloadable pdf, it lists the info for an 8″ pizza, that should be comparable to 1/3rd of a 14″ pizza! (or 1/4th of a 16″ pizza!)

Please let us know if you have any other questions!

  14. Is the 8 inch pizza the individual pleaser size? I am trying to figure out how many carbs are in the individual, thin crust pleaser with spinach, red pepper and onion. Thank you

    • You are correct. The 8 inch pizza is the individual pleaser size. The total carbs for an 8 inch thin crust pizza with spinach, red pepper and onion is 74g. The individual salad contains 5.7g of carbs. Hope this helps!

  15. Do y’all have any attentions of opening stores in Texas? I would love to open one up down here even if it’s for me to eat at. Lol. I’m about to start trying to make my own but looks like people have been trying for years and can’t seem to figure it out. I grew up on Monical’s but now that I have moved to Texas it’s the only food I’ve considered shipping down here so we can enjoy it once or twice a week again. Thanks for making the best pizza in the world!!

  16. Your gluten free pizza says it contains no sulfites however tapioca and potato starch both contain sulfites. I suffered an.allergic reaction because your allergen.list in sorely incorrect

  17. Your gluten free pizza crust ingredients list rice flour, can you confirm if this is white rice flour (without the hull) or if it is whole grain brown rice flour, flour that includes the hull?

  18. Angela R Stoewer

I can’t seem to find what your special blend/premium blend cheese includes?

    • We have a different sauce for our Thin Crust Pizza and for our Pan & Point Crust Pizzas. We would like to mention that there is also Garlic Salt & Basil sprinkled on top of the pizzas!

Here are the ingredients for our Thin Crust Pizza Sauce: Tomatoes, Salt, Oregano, Black Pepper, Naturally derived citric acid.
Here are the ingredients for our Pan & Point Crust Pizza Sauce: Tomatoes, Salt, Oregano, Garlic salt, Sugar, Black Pepper, Naturally derived citric acid

I did not find a “calculator”. What I found was a listing of calories for an 8-inch pizza and you manually add the calories for each topping. What I would like to see is an actual nutritional calculator that shows sodium content, calories, fiber, carbs, etc., but especially, the sodium content. We have someone in our family that has a sodium restriction, and this information would be very helpful.

    • To find the calculator on our website, go to ‘My Monical’s’, select your location, then select “View Nutritional Information”, it should connect you to our interactive calculator!
